When you delete a file from your computer you're not physically removing the data, you're simply marking that space as free. This means that, using the right software, your deleted data could be easily restored – unless you use a powerful tool like East-Tec Eraser.

With East-Tec Eraser you can not only erase sensitive information beyond recovery, but also protect your personal privacy. The program starts up with a welcome dialog box that gives you access to its three main features: removing all traces of online activity, erasing previously deleted files in a more secure way and erasing specific files and folders.

East-Tec Eraser offers a dozen file wiping methods, from the lightest one to the Gutmann method, which is able to prevent file recovery with hardware tools. Obviously, the more secure the method, the longer it takes East-Tec Eraser to delete the files.

East-Tec Eraser is generally very easy to use. It also features support for scheduled tasks and can work with various email clients to delete sensitive messages. On the downside, be sure to double check everything before hitting the Delete button: there's no way back!
